About the Tax Advisor
What we do
We provide help with property tax-related matters and appeals. We're a division of the Office of the Ombuds and operate independently of the County Assessor. If you want to appeal your assessed value, the burden is on you to prove your case. You'll need the most relevant evidence available about your property's value.
How we can help with your appeal
- Identify comparable sales
- Prepare a more effective appeal
- Research recorded documents and maps
- Work with the County Assessor and Treasury Operations to resolve assessment and tax problems
Other ways we can help
- Answer questions about value notices, exemptions, and levy rates
- Review your property's characteristics
- Assist with appraisal and assessment practices, tax calculation, and billing procedures
What we can’t do
- Reduce your assessed value
- Lower your tax bill
- Change your property's characteristics
